Introduction

In this new era of ever-changing global economy, competence management is crucial to improve business performance as well as to manage risks. The core competency of the related profession serves to validate the individual’s ability and knowledge to perform the work challenges to a set of quality standards and acceptable level of performance in employment with the highest credential and recognition.

 

SIPMM offers two competency awards based on either the accreditation or the certification of a practitioner in the specialised field of Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain management – the Accredited Practitioner (AP) award or the Certified Practitioner (CP) award. These awards are designed to validate the competence of a practitioner in the specialised field of the profession.

The SIPMM Competency awards are recognised and endorsed by the World Certification Institute, US. The competency awards are valid for a period of three years and are subject to re-accreditation or re-certification by the Institute every three yearly.

Accredited Practitioner Award
 

The Accredited Practitioner (AP) award is based on a set of criterion-referenced occupational achievements and is designed to determine whether a candidate is qualified to attain the designation of an Accredited Practitioner.

All successful applicants for the Accredited Practitioner awards shall receive a competency certificate and shall be entitled to use the designation of an Accredited Practitioner with an indication on the specialised field of the accreditation. They are also eligible to apply as an Associate Member of SIPMM.

Certified Practitioner Award
 

The Certified Practitioner (CP) award is based on a set of criterion-referenced achievements in both academic studies and work experiences. In addition, candidates for the Certified Practitioner award are required to pass a Competency Test. The award is designed to determine whether a candidate can be qualified to attain the premier designation of Certified Practitioner award.

All successful applicants for the Certified Practitioner awards shall receive a competency certificate and shall be entitled to use the designation of a Certified Practitioner with an indication on the specialised field of the certification. They are also eligible to apply as a Certified Member of SIPMM.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the Accredited Practitioner award must meet the following requirements:

·         Minimum 23 years of age; and 

·         At least 5 years working experience as a full-time practitioner in the field of purchasing, logistics and supply chain management; and 

·         Have attained a professional qualification not lower than the SIPMM certificate, or a diploma from a recognised institute, or any other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the SIPMM Certification Board; and

·         Minimum of 48 competency merit points (CMPs) awarded by SIPMM.

 

Applicants for the Certified Practitioner award must pass a Competency Test and meet the following requirements:

·         Minimum 28 years of age; and 

·         At least 8 years working experience as a full-time practitioner in the field of purchasing, logistics and supply chain management, of which 3 years are at a managerial level; and 

·         Have attained a professional qualification not lower than the SIPMM diploma, or a degree from a recognised university, or any other qualifications deemed to be equivalent by the SIPMM Certification Board; and

·         Minimum of 88 competency merit points (CMPs) awarded by SIPMM.

Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for the awards must complete the required information as detailed in the “Application for Competency Awards” Form and submit it with the relevant supporting documents and fees to:

The World Certification Institute is an international body incorporated in the United States, and issues certification to eligible candidates worldwide. Candidates receiving the Certified Practitioner award from SIPMM are eligible to apply for certification as a World Certified Practitioner (WCPTM) in the stipulated specialised field of purchasing, logistics and supply chain management.
